Immerse yourself in Nature

In the warmer months, there are nearby trails which are excellent for mountain biking with both back country roads and single-track. Designated horseback riding trailheads are less than a mile away. A “Wild and Scenic Study River,” the Osgood River, flows nearby with put-in and take-outs within a couple of miles of your driveway. Drop-off and pick-up arrangements can be made. This is a “must paddle” for those interested in wildlife and scenery. Many have spotted the bald eagle who has a nest at the river’s edge. We are surrounded by many great fishing spots.

Experience you can count on

Your hosts, Bob and Sheila, are a former professional wilderness guide and a life-long resident of the Paul Smith’s area. Between the two of them, good advice—connecting you to great experiences and unique destinations is as close to a “sure thing” as you can get. The temporary use of their brains is complimentary!

They are always more than happy to help facilitate your adventures including local advice on where to go, detailed directions on how to get there, and car shuttles for local one-way trips (especially with boats).

Activities

HOW OUR GUESTS PASS TIME

"The homeowners were kind enough to show us their very impressive syrup production located right on the Base."

Eric D.

"The serenity of this place gave us the opportunity to meditate, explore scenery of the Adirondacks, and enjoy spending time together as a family. The property provided plenty of opportunity for the kids to explore and my wife and I some time alone."

Rob K.

"If you like watching wildlife, all you have to do is gaze out of a window in the morning and you're practically guaranteed a sighting."

Family Group

"The convenient location was perfect for our paddling adventures, trips to the Adirondack Museum, Whiteface Mountain, The Wild Center, and nearby hiking. It was a delight to relax either on the deck, curled up in the loft reading a good book, or while enjoying an evening campfire."

Eileen M.

"The 2nd story deck, with a cup of coffee in the morning, was a perfect place to breathe in the fresh smell of the white pines. We were able to get in many nice walks almost every evening on the many trails at the VIC. Speaking of trails, the 33 acres of the camp, offers a “maze” of trails which is an adventure in itself. We came across a large flock of turkeys on our hike through the woods near the rock wall."

Mike G.

"We had much enjoyed family time. The fellows took advantage of canoeing, tracking, hiking and hunting. Extra sledding for Mom and little grandson and plenty of slow cooked feasts."

Erin I.
